Steven Lehrer Message from page 1 What Would You Do Thinking Outside the Box We are pleased to present this months installment of What Would You Do Thinking Outside the Box. Each month well present an optically related topic in our newsletter and then publish the answer in our next newsletter. Wed like to thank Peter Bacotti for providing this months topic. If you have an optical topic youd like to discuss and would like to share it with us please let us know so we can present it in future newsletters. In last months newsletter we asked When it comes to safety on the job why is it important when taking in an Rx to do a lifestyle evaluation in order to determine the type of eyewear and lens material needed for the patient The answer It is up to the dispenser to determine the proper eyewear and lens materials to ward off damage that may be caused in everyday events. It is also a good source of additional revenue. Each day 2000 workers have job related eye injuries requiring medical treatment. One-third are treated in hospital emergency rooms. Objects like nails staples or slivers of wood or metal penetrate the eyeball and result in a permanent loss of vision. Optical Topic 26 This months question How do we educate and help our patients understand the need to protect the eyes from blue light absorption problems What would you do Look for the answer next month Visit Our New and Re-Designed Website Our new and re-designed website www.oany.org is now online and ready to be viewed.
